Post subject: Same problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>games (more info?)

-I am having the same problem as matt i think

-I have the game of the year edition.

-the game installs fine and all.

-When I try to play the game it begins to load. (window opens)

-it goes full screen

-and then it goes back to my desktop and tells me to send an error
report.

-I don't want to try anything unless I am sure that it will work for
fear of screwing up my computer. (I have bad luck with stuff like
that)

Thankyou in advance for any help.

-Mc

I had this same problem until I reinstalled XP.
How I got around it was ( if there is a desktop icon for the game)right
click the icon /select compatability tab. In the window "Compatability Mode"
check "Run this program in compatability mode for" box and select an older
version of windows.
(It worked for me selecting Win98)
Apply and Ok out.
Try running the game.
One querk was I could do this and instantly go back and uncheck the
compatability box and the game would play. But if I took the game CD out of
the CD drive? The next time I put it in it would come up with the error where
I would have to set compatability again. But as long as the game Cd stayed in
the drive, even through reboots, the game would play.
Go figure.
